Volunteering

We invite volunteers from around the globe. Since its founding Mwema has received both, international and local volunteers who have spend their time with children and support Mwema in different areas. By harnessing the skills of volunteers, we are able to serve the children better. We have space for volunteers and if you would like to volunteer and help change children lives, contact us through our website and fill the application form and in case of questions, please contact us directly.

Story of Lise

It’s not easy trying to find the right words to describe the amazing experience I had volunteering at Mwema Children Centre. I felt so welcome and appreciated for my input and benefited from the mutual exchange of ideas. What impressed me most was the staff’s attitudes: You won’t find such kind hearted and compassionate individuals working towards shared ideals and a common goal easily anywhere else! I’d love to support and come back to Mwema in the future since I’m sure there’ll be so much development  and positive change coming!

Story of Andi

Volunteering at Mwema was an incredibly rewarding experience. One of the reason’s I wanted to volunteer at Mwema Children Centre was to support the incredible staff in different areas from technical issues, outside communications and improving administrative processes. During our stay, we successfully determined on how to optimise the resources available at the Centre. The volunteer experience gave me the opportunity to see and experience social work and educating outside of my own world. Volunteering at Mwema will leave you waking up with a real sense of purpose. One of the best things at Mwema is that they never treat you like a volunteer but always like a family member!s

Story of Elsa

It is much easier to turn a blind eye to things that happen outside of one’s own country, which is exactly why I consider the experience at Mwema Children Centre a true blessing. It is so important to give a helping hand to others, especially those who are not fortunate enough to be born into a family that can take care of their children. Children’s education and rights must be the pillar of any community. Volunteering at Mwema Children Centre and meeting so many wonderful people who work together for this cause and make a great contribution has strengthened my resolve to continue to work for this cause.

Applying Mwema

However, international volonteers must be well prepared and adapted to meet the objectives of our NGO. Therefore, it is our responsibility to establish certain selection criteria for the screening of those applicants that wish to come to volunteer at Mwema, and explain the how this screening process is.
